STEP 1: GATHER YOUR ITEMS

Kids Outgrow Clothes Quickly!
On average, children go through a whole new wardrobe every 6 months.
So, if your home is overflowing with outgrown clothes, you're definitely not the only one!
You probably also have other items around the house you could sell.
Here are some spots to check for extra things to list.

STEP 2: SORT

Not Ready to Let Go? That’s Okay!
Hold on to the items you’re not quite ready to part with.

TOSS anything that’s too worn out—think stains, missing parts, or items that no longer work. SELL the items that meet the 4 Cs:

CLEAN: The cleaner, the better! Items in great condition sell best. Inspect for stains or damage and clean everything thoroughly.

CURRENT: Shoppers love stylish, in-season finds. Bring warm-weather clothes and shoes to the Spring/Summer sale, and cold-weather items to the Fall/Winter sale.

COMPLETE: Make sure all pieces and parts are included—especially for toys, gear, or multi-part sets. Buyers expect everything to work as it should.

COMPLIANT: Safety matters. Items like car seats, cribs, and toys must meet safety regulations.

STEP 3: PRICE

ASK YOURSELF- "What price would make me grab this item instantly—and want to tell my friends about the amazing deal I got?"

Create Bundles
When pricing your items, think about grouping similar pieces into sets. Bundling is a great time-saver—especially for smaller clothing sizes and accessories.

STEP 4: PREP YOUR ITEMS

 Gather these supplies:

  • printer paper (cardstock is not preferred)
  • safety pins
  • hangers
  • scissors
  • clear Ziploc bags
  • clear tape & painter’s tape (best for books)
  • zip-ties

ATTACHING TAGS: Make sure tag is attached securely so it won't fall off.   Secure all pieces together so they won't separate & always tape bags closed.  Hats and Accessories: Attach the tag directly to the fabric with a safety pin.  ZIP-TIE tags directly to toys - this is one of the easiest and most secure ways to attach a tag.

Hanger Direction:   Be sure the hanger hook opens to the left, like a question mark. Attach the tag to top right of item.  ALL clothing must be on hangers.

Hanging pants or shorts to hanger: Must be attached to the TOP of the hanger.

Hang the following items on hangers:  Life Jackets, Arm Floaties & Puddle Jumpers. Sling & Wrap Carriers, Front Carriers & Snugglies. All Diaper Bags, backpacks and purses.

Accessories: Use clear bags to bundle sets of socks, bows, accessories, and infant items.    Display neatly so shopper can see well.  Tape the tag inside or outside so it's clear and easy to see and tape bag closed.

SHOES: Hole-punch your tag and use a zip-tie to secure the shoes and  tag together.  In rare cases where shoes can't be zip-tied, place them in a clear bag.  Most shoes have a spot where a zip-tie can be used—just get creative!

STEP 5: DROP OFF!

You did it!  Now that your items are tagged, you'll want to pack items and organize by type & size, so that Drop Off is easy and fast. Sellers must reserve a drop off time.

STEP 6: SHOP, SHARE & WATCH

SHOP: Make sure you sell your wristband for the pre-sale.

SHARE: Now is the time to tell everyone to shop! The more you share, the bigger your consignor check will grow.  Be sure all the families in your life know about HOPSCOTCH!

WATCH: Watch Your Consignor Check Grow. You can view your sold items every night after close.
